🍂 Fall Mini Sessions are Coming! Here’s How to Be Prepared

It’s that time of year again — when the air turns crisp, the leaves start to glow, and cozy sweaters and boots make their grand return! Fall is one of our favorite seasons at Kate Buckles Photography, and it’s the perfect backdrop for capturing your family’s laughter, love, and connection.

Our Fall Mini Sessions are right around the corner — and whether you’ve done them before or this is your first time, we want to help you get the most out of your experience. Here’s everything you need to know to be fully prepared for your session!

1️⃣ Coordinate (Don’t Match!) Your Outfits

When choosing outfits, aim for coordinating colors rather than identical ones. Warm, earthy tones photograph beautifully — think soft creams, muted greens, rich rusts, deep burgundy, and cozy browns.Here are a few quick tips:

• Mix textures like knits, denim, and corduroy for depth.

• Avoid loud logos or neon colors.

• Layers (like scarves or cardigans) add visual interest and flexibility for comfort.

If you’re unsure what to wear, we’re happy to help with guidance or inspiration boards to make sure your family looks picture-perfect!

2️⃣ Arrive Early

Mini sessions are quick and efficient — typically 10–15 minutes long — so every minute counts. Arriving 10–15 minutes early gives you time to park, get little ones settled, and shake off any nerves. This way, your time in front of the camera starts calm, not rushed!

3️⃣ Bring the Essentials

We recommend bringing a few small items that can make your session run smoothly:

• A lint roller for touch-ups.

• Snacks or treats for kids (and adults too — we won’t judge!).

• A hairbrush or wipes for quick fixes.

• A cozy blanket or wrap if the weather is cool — it can double as a prop!

4️⃣ Focus on Connection, Not Perfection

We know family photos can feel like a lot — especially with little ones! But remember, the goal is to capture your family’s genuine connection, not a perfectly posed moment.Relax, laugh, and let us do the work of bringing out your family’s best side.
