How to Prepare for Dance or Sports Picture Day

Picture day is always an exciting event—whether it’s your child’s first dance recital or they’re suiting up for their final sports season. 1. Get the Gear Ready the Night Before

Lay out everything you’ll need:

• Uniform or costume (make sure it’s clean, wrinkle-free, and complete!)

• Accessories (think shoes, tights, hair bows, gloves, props, medals, etc.)

• Equipment for sports (balls, bats, pom-poms, helmets, etc.)

• Touch-up kit (hairbrush, safety pins, makeup, extra socks)

2. Hair & Makeup Tips

Whether it’s a slicked-back bun for ballet or a neat ponytail for soccer, plan the hairstyle ahead of time—and practice it if needed. For dancers, stage makeup may be required; for sports, a natural look with just a bit of powder to reduce shine is perfect.

3. Arrive on Time (or Early!)

Photo schedules can be tight. Showing up a few minutes early helps your child feel calm and gives you time to handle last-minute fixes.

4. Label Everything

In the chaos of picture day, things can get lost. Label costumes, shoes, and accessories to avoid mix-ups.

5. Encourage Confidence

Give your child a little pep talk. Let them know to stand tall, smile, and have fun. Their joy and pride will shine through in the photos!

6. Siblings? Come Ready!
