One of the most magical parts of our Easter Mini Sessions is getting to interact with real bunnies and chicks. For many children, this may be their very first time being close to live animals ā which makes preparation especially helpful.
A little conversation beforehand can make a big difference in helping your child feel confident, calm, and excited when they arrive.
Hereās how to help your little one have the best experience possible.

Talk About the Animals Ahead of Time
Before your session, let your child know theyāll be meeting real animals ā not toys or stuffed animals.
Explain that:
The bunnies and chicks are gentle
They may move or make sounds
We need to use soft hands
Setting expectations removes surprises and helps children feel more comfortable when they arrive.
You can even show photos or videos of bunnies and chicks beforehand so they know what to expect.
Practice āGentle Handsā
Young children naturally want to grab, squeeze, or hug tightly when theyāre excited. Practicing gentle touches at home helps tremendously.
Try saying:
āWe pet softly.ā
āOne finger touches.ā
āSlow and gentle.ā
You can practice with a stuffed animal to demonstrate how we care for small animals safely.
Let Them Know Itās Okay to Feel Unsure
Some children run right toward the animals. Others feel shy or nervous ā and both reactions are completely normal.
Let your child know:
They donāt have to hold the bunny
They can sit nearby instead
Itās okay to take their time
Often, once they see how calm the animals are, curiosity takes over.
Avoid Pressure to Smile
The best photos happen when kids feel relaxed.
Instead of saying, āYou have to smile,ā let them know theyāre coming to meet animals and have fun. Genuine curiosity and interaction create the sweetest expressions naturally.
We guide everything gently during the session.
