It feels a little vulnerable to reintroduce myself here after so many years, but maybe that’s exactly why it’s time.

I’m also the heart behind Kate Buckles Photography, a boutique portrait studio based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, serving families, newborns, seniors, and couples who want more than just photos — they want artwork and memories that last a lifetime.

The Season Behind the Camera

The last few years have been the hardest of my life.

There were moments I truly didn’t know how I would hold it all together. Moments I felt stretched past what I thought I could survive. Moments I understood, in a very real way, how easy it would be to give up.

But I didn’t.

And not because I’m strong.

Because Jesus is faithful.

I have seen Him meet me in the dark. Provide when the numbers didn’t add up. Steady my heart when everything felt like it was shaking. Rebuild parts of me I didn’t even realize were broken.

If I look back at the woman I was a few years ago, she had no idea what was coming. But she also had no idea how deeply she would experience God’s kindness in the middle of it.

Being a single mom is the hardest and most rewarding job I have ever had. My boys are watching me rebuild. Watching me choose faith. Watching me work, pray, and keep going. That matters to me more than anything.

Why Photography Matters So Much to Me

Photography became deeply personal to me when I became a mom.

I suddenly understood how quickly time moves. How the little moments become the big ones. How desperately we want to freeze the stages that pass by far too quickly.

Those early years with my boys made me fall even more in love with storytelling through images. I wanted to bottle up their laughter, their tiny hands, their missing teeth, their messy hair and big personalities. And I realized that so many parents feel the exact same way.

That’s why this work matters so much to me.

Photography isn’t just about smiling at the camera. It’s about preserving the season you're in — the laughter, the chaos, the quiet moments, and the love that fills your home.

A Boutique Photography Experience

Over the past decade, my little photography dream has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of.

Kate Buckles Photography is now a full-service boutique studio that focuses on creating a high-end, stress-free experience from start to finish. My goal is for families to feel cared for, guided, and celebrated every step of the way.

Running a Small Business in a Hard Season

Running a small business in the middle of a hard season is both a deep joy and a real struggle.

I love this work with my whole heart. I love the families I get to serve. I love telling your stories. I love preserving the fleeting moments that feel too sacred to lose.

But this business is also how I provide for my family.

And that makes every session booked, every referral shared, and every family who trusts me with their memories mean more than I can fully express.

For over a decade, this business has grown almost entirely through word of mouth — families sharing their experiences with friends, neighbors, and loved ones. That kind of support is something I never take for granted.
