When people look at your newborn photographs years from now, I don't want them to notice your clothes first.

I want them to notice your baby's tiny fingers wrapped around yours.

The way your toddler looks at their new sibling.

The way you're holding your baby close.

Simple clothing allows those moments to shine.

My favorite newborn sessions feature soft, neutral colors that feel timeless and photograph beautifully.

Think about colors like:

These colors complement one another without competing for attention and help create a calm, cohesive gallery.

You don't need everyone in identical outfits.

Everything coordinates beautifully while still allowing each family member to have their own personality.

What Should Mom Wear?

As moms, we're often our own toughest critics—especially just a few weeks after giving birth.

Please give yourself grace.

Choose something that makes you feel comfortable and confident.

Flowy dresses, soft sweaters, cardigans, and simple tops tend to photograph beautifully.

The most important thing isn't the style.

It's that you feel like yourself.

What Should Dad Wear?

Dads don't have to overthink it.

A simple Henley, sweater, or button-down shirt in neutral tones photographs wonderfully.

Avoid large logos, bright graphics, or neon colors that can distract from the connection between your family.

Simple always wins.

What Should Siblings Wear?

The same advice applies to older brothers and sisters.

Soft, comfortable clothing in coordinating colors works beautifully.

For little girls, simple dresses or rompers photograph wonderfully.

For boys, neutral shirts with jeans, khakis, or simple overalls are timeless choices.

Most importantly, choose clothing they're comfortable wearing.

Happy kids make beautiful photographs.

What Should Baby Wear?

You don't need to worry about bringing outfits for your baby!

I have a carefully curated collection of beautiful wraps, swaddles, bonnets, headbands, rompers, and timeless newborn outfits available for your session.

Everything has been chosen to create the soft, classic style you see throughout my portfolio, so there's no need to spend time or money shopping for something special.

The only exception is if you have a meaningful heirloom or sentimental item you'd love to include, such as a special blanket knitted by Grandma, a family quilt, Dad's military hat, a handmade outfit, or another keepsake that's part of your family's story. I love incorporating those personal touches when possible.

Otherwise, simply bring your baby dressed in an easy-to-remove outfit or pajamas, and I'll take care of the rest.

One less thing to think about—and one more way I can help make your newborn session as relaxed and stress-free as possible.

Don't Stress About Every Detail

I've had parents apologize because they couldn't find the "perfect" outfit.

Please don't worry.

Your baby won't remember what you wore.

Your children won't remember whether Dad wore a blue shirt or a gray one.

What they'll remember—especially when they look back at these photographs years from now—is how deeply they were loved.

Once you've picked your outfits, lay them all out together on the bed.

Seeing everything side by side makes it much easier to spot colors or patterns that don't quite fit.
