If you’ve booked one of our dreamy Jemez sessions — yay! This location is one of my absolute favorites with its lush greens, forest trails, and warm golden light. It’s the perfect backdrop for timeless, earthy, and emotion-filled photos.

To help you feel confident and camera-ready, here are a few tips on what to wear for your Los Conchas photo session:

✨ Stick to Earthy / Neutral Tones

The forest tones really shine when paired with soft, muted colors. Think:

  • Cream, oatmeal, tan

  • Olive, sage, forest green

  • Rust, terracotta, mustard

  • Warm greys, browns, or soft blush tones

These colors photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you and your connections.

✨ Avoid Loud Patterns or Neon Colors

Bright colors and bold patterns tend to distract in photos — and can clash with the natural landscape. Stick with solids, soft prints, or subtle textures to let the scenery and emotion take center stage.

✨ Coordinate, Don’t Match

Gone are the days of identical outfits! Instead, choose a color palette of 3–4 complementary tones and let each person bring in their own look within that range. Think cozy knits, linen, denim, and layers — all mixed in a natural, lived-in way.

✨ Dress for the Setting

We’ll be walking on trails, so comfortable shoes are a must. If you love a dress moment — go for it! Flowy dresses and skirts add gorgeous movement to your photos. Layers like sweaters, cardigans, and shawls add warmth and visual interest.

✨ Bring a Layer

Evenings in the Jemez can cool off quickly, so bringing a light jacket or sweater is a great idea.

You can always take it off for some photos and use it for cozy shots too.

When in doubt, feel free to send me a few outfit options! I’m always happy to help you pull together a look that feels like you and fits beautifully in the Jemez backdrop.

Can’t wait to capture magic with you in the mountains!
