Glitter Minis are bold, fun, and full of personality — and with this year’s black backdrop, the sparkle is going to POP in the best way. ✨

To help you get the most out of your session, here’s everything you need to know to prepare.

Adults and children blow golden glitter, smiling, against a gray backdrop. Colorful dresses add a festive feel to the joyful scene.

Dress to Shine

Because we’re using a black backdrop, wardrobe matters! Black backgrounds create beautiful contrast, so lighter colors and vibrant tones photograph especially well.

Think:

  • White or cream

  • Bright pinks or reds

  • Jewel tones

  • Denim

  • Fun textures like tulle or sequins

Try to avoid:

  • Solid black (it can blend into the backdrop)

  • Busy patterns that compete with the glitter

  • Neon tones that reflect oddly

If you’re unsure, lay the outfit out on your bed and imagine it against a dark background — does it stand out? That’s your goal.

Keep Hair Simple and Polished

Glitter catches light, so clean, brushed hair looks best. Soft curls, simple braids, or neatly styled natural hair are perfect.

For girls, a cute bow or simple accessory can add a fun touch. For boys, styled hair with a little product can elevate the look.

Arrive Camera-Ready

Glitter minis are short and sweet — which means we jump right in. Come dressed and ready so we can use every minute capturing those fun expressions.

Make sure:

  • Faces are clean

  • No snack stains on clothes

  • Shoes are wiped down if they’ll be in photos

Prepare for a Little Sparkle

Yes — glitter is involved! While we do our best to keep it controlled, it’s still glitter. A lint roller at home afterward isn’t a bad idea.

We promise it’s worth it for the magic it creates in photos.

Set the Tone

The best glitter mini photos come when kids are relaxed and excited. Instead of saying “you have to smile,” try telling them this will be a fun, sparkly photo experience. The more upbeat the energy, the better the expressions.

Let them know it’s okay to laugh, toss glitter, and have fun.
