How to Be Prepared for a Fun & Stress-Free Experience
Snowball Mini Sessions are almost here, and we are so excited to capture these magical winter moments for your family! ❄️ Whether this is your first mini session or you’ve done them before, a little preparation goes a long way in making sure your experience is smooth, fun, and full of genuine smiles.
Here are our top tips to help you feel confident and ready for your Snowball Mini this weekend:
1. Dress for the Weather (and the Photos!)
Winter sessions can be chilly, so layering is key.
Start with warm base layers (thermals or tights under outfits work great).
Add sweaters, coats, scarves, or hats that coordinate with your outfits.
Neutral colors, soft winter tones, and classic textures photograph beautifully against snowy backdrops.
Don’t forget warm socks and closed-toe shoes or boots.
👉 Pro tip: You can always remove bulky coats for a few photos if weather allows!
2. Plan to Arrive Early
Mini sessions move quickly, so arriving 5–10 minutes early helps everyone stay relaxed and on schedule. This gives you time to park, get last-minute layers adjusted, and let kids settle in before we begin.
3. Keep Little Ones Comfortable
Happy kids make for the best photos.
Bring gloves, hand warmers, or a blanket to keep them cozy between shots.
A small snack or treat (nothing messy!) can be a great motivator.
Let kids know ahead of time that this will be a fun, quick experience with room to play and laugh.
4. Embrace the Winter Fun
Snowball Minis are all about capturing joy, movement, and connection. Don’t worry about perfection—laughing, cuddling close, and interacting naturally always creates the most beautiful images.
If snow makes an appearance, even better! ❄️ We’ll guide you every step of the way so you don’t have to worry about posing.
5. Keep Expectations Realistic
Mini sessions are short and sweet by design. Trust the process! We focus on capturing a variety of genuine moments in a short amount of time, and often the in-between moments become client favorites.
6. Relax & Enjoy the Experience
The best thing you can do is show up ready to enjoy the moment. Winter sessions can feel fast-paced, but they’re also incredibly special. These photos are about connection, warmth, and creating memories you’ll treasure long after the snow melts.
We can’t wait to see you this weekend and create beautiful winter memories for your family. If you have any last-minute questions, feel free to reach out—we’re always happy to help!
