To the Mom Who Doesn't Feel Beautiful During Pregnancy...

Can I tell you something?
Almost every expectant mom who walks into my studio says some version of the same thing.
"I'm excited...but I just don't feel like myself."
Maybe your clothes don't fit the way they used to.
Maybe you're swollen.
Maybe you're exhausted.
Maybe you're counting down the days until you can sleep on your stomach again.
Maybe you look in the mirror and only notice the things that have changed.
If that's you, I want you to know something.
You're not alone.
Pregnancy Changes Everything

Growing a baby is one of the most incredible things your body will ever do.
It's also one of the hardest.
Your body changes.
Your routines change.
Your emotions change.
Some days you feel amazing.
Other days, simply putting your shoes on feels like an accomplishment.
It's easy to believe that because you don't feel your best, you shouldn't step in front of a camera.
But what if you're looking at it from the wrong perspective?
Your Baby Won't See What You See

Years from now, your child won't look at your maternity photos and think:
"Mom's face was a little rounder."
Or...
"She should have waited until she lost a little weight."
They'll see something completely different.
They'll see the woman who carried them.
The woman who loved them before she had ever seen their face.
The woman who made room in her heart—and in her life—for them long before they took their first breath.
That's what these photographs preserve.
You Don't Have to Look Like a Magazine Cover
Social media has a funny way of convincing us that pregnancy has to look effortless.
Perfect hair.
Perfect dress.
Perfect glow.
Real life is usually a little different.
Sometimes pregnancy is beautiful.
Sometimes it's uncomfortable.
Sometimes it's both in the same hour.
You don't have to become someone else for your maternity session.
You just have to be you.
Let Me Take Care of the Rest

One of my favorite parts of maternity photography is helping moms realize they don't have to know how to pose, where to look, or what to do with their hands.
That's my job.
I'll help you choose a location.
I'll help you with wardrobe.
I'll guide you through natural posing that flatters your changing body while still feeling comfortable and authentic.
My hope is that you leave your session feeling more confident than when you arrived.
Someday These Photos Won't Be About You

Right now, it might feel like these photos are about documenting your pregnancy.
But someday, they'll become something much bigger.
One day your son or daughter may hold these images in their hands.
They'll see the excitement.
The anticipation.
The love.
They'll see the beginning of their story.
And they'll see the incredible woman who carried them into this world.
That is a gift.
Kate's Tip
If you're waiting until you "feel prettier" or "lose a little weight," I gently encourage you to reconsider.
This season won't last forever.
Your baby is growing every single day, and this chapter deserves to be remembered—not because everything was perfect, but because it was real.
A Little Encouragement From One Mom to Another

Motherhood has a way of reminding us that our bodies are capable of extraordinary things.
They grow life.
They comfort.
They nurture.
They carry.
They love.
Those things are far more beautiful than perfection.
So if you've been wondering whether you should book maternity photos, I hope you'll give yourself permission to say yes.
Not because you feel perfect.
But because this season matters.
And someday, I think you'll be so thankful you chose to remember it.
